Hi there! I'm from Bulgaria and I can tell app. how much u need to live in Sofia. Well, let's start the place where u wanna live. If it's in the city center the rent will be higher(u can guess that!) but I would recommend it because everything's close and it's safety. This of course DOESNT mean the other places are full with gunned people. So, if u want to rent a room in the city center it's about 100-150 Euro but this is really approximately. If u want a whole appartment it will be quite expensive. If u want to buy an appartment not exactly in the center but in a good place where there is underground is about 50 000euro (but u can find something really cheaper. this money is for quite big appartmnet). and for food u dont really need sooo much money, let's say that for one person who doest buy the most expensive food 150uero is enough. If u want to go out in a club in the city u'll need maybe a least 15euro even 20, and if u need a taxi not more than 15euro (ant this is for really far destination. it may take u even 4euro, depends on the destination.) what else...oh, yeah...there is that place called Studentski Grad. it's a section with blocks where most of the people are students so there u dont need so much money. if u want to have a rich dinner with alchohol and lots of food in the city may cost u about 15-20euro and in studentski grad is maybe the half of the money u need in the center. clothes are not so expensive. of course the famous brands are expensive but there are cheap clothes. the food in the stores is with normal price and the public transport is cheap. hope i helped u. if u have ANY questions related with Bulgaria, let me know! I'll be glad to help u:)) Enjoy~! And I strongly agree it's more expensive in Budapest! I tried to tell u more money than u need so u probably it may be quite cheaper but still its better to have more money than to stay without any:)

Try Bulgaria, incredibly cheap, rural house £10,-£15000. Beer 20p, Bottle of Vodka £1.20, Good meal out with wine £5 for 2, phone bill 10% of ours, petrol less than half price need I go on. Only draw back wages are low if you are unskilled. The Bulgarian property market is producing some fevered activity amongst European overseas property buyers. Examine the Bulgarian housing market and it's easy to see why this region is causing so much excitement. Low prices and rental opportunities that cover both summer and winter periods makes Bulgaria attractive for overseas property investment.
