the minimum for food - 1000 Ft/day for public transportation 8750 Ft/month 1 liter of milk - 180-280 Ft 1 kg of bread - 100-200 Ft 1 slice of pizza 250-350 Ft subsistence wage -69,000 Ft dole - 25.000 Ft income tax - 0-600,000 Ft - 20% - 600,000-1,200,000 -30% of the amount above 600.000 -above 1,200,000 - 40% of the amount above 1,200,000 vat - 20% prime rate - 11% inflation - 6-7 % to rent a flat (40-50 sqm) - 60,000-70,000 Ft + overhead to rent a room is about half of the price (1$ =210 Ft) the maximum is just like anywhere else in western europe. the tax moralty is very low. tiring of pay for the public transport I travel without tickets since 2006. If you are catched by the controllers simply tell them you can not present id, passport or anything with your personal data in it. If they insist to call the police you shouldn't to be anxious. there is a loophole in the system. If the police is involved and you tell them you are not approve that the police give your personal data to the controllers you are safe. (and call an interpreter. some controllers talk a pidgin english the police is totally illiterate), but be cool and very polite and extremely modest. you may be forced to leave the bus or anything. and that's all. (the fee is 25,000 Ft, in the case you are about to support my city.) The only exception the subway. there are controllers in every gates. without ticket you have no chance even to near the subway and don't even try. the security guard is very rude (moron, jismlike f***ers) don't use taxi. it's a perfect rip-off. be cautious in the 6,7,8 9 district after dark. avoid the gipsies everywhere in the city. pickpocketing is very popular in the malls, jampacked trams and buses. and enjoy
