Would it be terrible to lose my American citizenship if I moved to Hungary and got citizenship there

Would it be terrible to lose my American citizenship if I moved to Hungary and got citizenship there?
Would it really be terrible to lose my American citizenship if I moved to Hungary and got citizenship there, cuz some people make it sound like its a bad thing and it can cause problems for me down the road in life or something. And also does anyone know the cost of living there compared to america?

Are you nuts???? Just about everyone in the world wants US citizenship. The standard rate for a fake marriage just to come to the US (nevermind citizenship) is about $ 50,000. And you just want to give it up? FIrst of all, with a US citizenship (and thus a US passort) you can travel anywhere in the world. Heck, evern Cuba wil let you travel there. You have not look into it if you are even considering it. The most coveted passport in the world is a US passport.

you don't have to renounce your US citizenship just because you take up citizenship somewhere else, not as far as the US is concerned anyway. how terrible it is is up to you. but most folks wouldn't do it.

I'm 61 and seen what this country has become! Can I go with you?

a lot of people from the usa seem to be under the assumption that people from the rest of the world are desperate to get to it. this maybe true for a lot of people from the third world but from developed world this is not the case. the usa is viewed as having backward social policies and thinking by a lot of people in the first world. that is not to say they hate it. its just that they would not choose to live in its society. if citizens of the usa like it, thats fine.

"Just about everyone in the world wants US citizenship." False, I don't want and I'm not the only one D: I don't think too much europeans would want one, as the popular stereotype is, american people are pretty superficial and money-oriented folks, sorry not for insult, just to let them know what the average people think about them. But for the question: Viewing the USA, from here, Hungary, it's economically an incomparably better country. Like there is much wider range of food, electrical devices, etc. that you can buy there. Lots of things maybe come to Europe, but rarely to Hungary. We're almost a balcanic or middle-east country from the viewpoint of the western people :D So I can't really understand your decision, why you want to move such an underdeveloped country like this. And it's not only bad in economics, but in culture and "intelligent politics" too... As the cost, as I know, we have less income for the goods' price here, than in the western countries (including US). So if you want to work here, count with less money than at home. The average income is around 100 000 HUF (500 USD). A kilogram of bread or a litre of milk is around 250 HUF. You can buy a PDA from 30 000 HUF, and a notebook from 70-80 000 HUF. I hope I helped.

Cost of living is low but so are wages. You don't have to give up your American citizenship to live in Hungary. You have time to decide after you move there.
